Hi, I have 2 chicks out of my incubator, now about 6 weeks old. Both have really big lumps in their chest area, they are firm and about the size of an egg. The lumps are not hindering the chicks in any way, they are still running around, looking othewise very healthy, eating drinking etc. Anyone with any clues? Chris

Hi Chris
What your seeing is your chicks crop, that's were their food sits before it goes down to their stomach. If it's full that's a good thing, it means they are eating well... it should be about the size of a ping-pong ball and fairly firm. It's only a problem if it gets rock hard and lumpy... then it might be impacted but from your description I don't think that's likely.
