Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me how long you need to wait before you can start to eat the chook eggs after you have used moxidectin plus on the chooks? and is the dosage the same as on the bottle for chooks 5ml to 1 litre of water? Thanks linda

hi linda i know the cydectin (in moxidectin) has a with hold period(period of time medication is in milk/meat/egg and not recommended to eat) but i dont know the amount of days for this product, on the bottle there should be WHP; (NUMBER OF DAYS), with moxylan LA it is WHP;28days, hope this helps. i was wondering what amount and price you were able to buy your moxidectin plus, i have been told that knox bird clinic restricts their sale of moxidectin plus only be to brought by vets from them, but i know you and others from wap have been able to get it. thanks

Hi Chckita I paid $30.00 for moxidectin plus from my local vet at wattle grove in forrestfield. I rang and spoke to knox birds and they told me the withholding period for eggs is 14 days and I was wondering if any of our other members have done the same withholding period. You might be better to order yours from knox vets and have it delivered to your door rather than driving to forrestfield. Cheers linda

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I finally got around to getting some moxidectin for my chookies! The vet advised a 30 day withholding period before eating the eggs, but found this post and linda29 says knox birds said 14 days. Just wondering how long everyone who uses moxidectin waits before eating the eggs - even in two weeks that's a whole lot of eggs to throw away! Thanks!

i would recommend the 30 day time frame as moxidectin stays in fatty tissues for 28 days plus, and egg yolk contain some fat.

Thanks jacquie! My kids eat most of the eggs and didn't want to risk feeding it too them (although they might have less fleas! ) Do other people just throw them out? Could you feed them to the dog? The bottle says it's ok to hatch from them so I'll stick a few in the bator, but that only takes 10 Like I said - just seems a shame to throw away that many eggs!

I feed any eggs that we dont eat (medication /feed/etc hitholding) to my dogs ,they thrive .Im not sure if its the right thing to do but the dogs love it. I also sometimes mix them in a mash for the poultry ,They love it to .
