I have started using my hovabater for the first time. (Still air manual turn.) took it 3 days to get up to and maintain temperature. I also got a digital Thermometer for "better" temp control. before I put the eggs in both thermometers were reading a similar temp about 1 degree different. 99.5 for one and 101.5 for the other
I put the eggs in with the supplied thermometer sitting on top of the eggs as per the instructions. But as the digital thermometer has big writing and sits on the outside I was paying closer attention to that. I left the eggs till lunch time to let the temp settle after putting in about 20 eggs. by Lunchtime both thermometers were reading amazingly differnt temps. The dig one reading around 99 and the little one that was supplied was reading around 103...SH**T. I am starting to think I have cooked the eggs so I start playing with the temp control. so by now the bl**dy temp is over the place......so I decided to leave it till morning and see if they have evened out......
By morning the thermometer on the eggs was reading 104 and the dig ital one 99.8.....so I add another thermometer on top of the eggs...This one is old faithful from my old incubater.. This one reads some where in between the 2 but closer to the other one that is sitting on top of the eggs. around 102
I put them in on Saturday so if the thermometers that are sitting on top of the eggs are the ones that are correct the eggs have been in the bater at between 102 and 104
So now I am thinking that I have definately cooked the eggs.....
Does any one have any idea how accurate the thermometers that are supplied with hovabaters are.
Do you think I have killed them...
