In a copy of Organic Gardener I picked up there was an article on an automatic chook feeder that has a lid that opens when the chooks stand on a platform. They say it keeps the mice etc out. I was excited until I saw the price - over $300.

Wow! $300??? Was it gilded? Seriously, do you have a pic? it can't be that hard to put together, hell I just learnt how to weld! Nothing's going to be 'too hard to try' anymore.

wow that is rich and yes let's see if we can do it but on the auto feeder thing there is one on ebay all the time it is a dog/ cat feeder and i have often thought about getting one it releases food up to 3 times a day i think and you can record your voice for a 5 sec stint imagine the neighbors hearing here chook chook chook come and get your dinnder and they look over an no one is there lol my hubby was surprised i don't already have one lol i have been bidding but they always sell when i am at work i think they hit around the 100 buck mark

I am astounded at the cost of some of the feeders but that one takes the cake....I am sure I can get my OH onto something once he has finished the other list of jobs I have for him LOL

Come on Ladies! Whatever happened to girl power?!!! Picking up those power tools in an enlivening experience! You can do it! I believe in you! (Admittedly I won't touch the hand grinder, freaks me out how dangerous that thing is! LOL!)

LOL last time I played with the power tools I killed the hammer drill so I am banned from touching any of his boys toys any more. I get to play with pliers and hammers, shovels and manual tools only now. Suits me just fine. I guess.
