One of my roos has alot of tiny white things on the small feathers around his face that look like lice eggs or similair. Not having seen lice before (apart from on the heads of my kids ) Im not sure if its a parasite or something else. I will try to get a pic tomorrow but my camera is shite and doesnt like doing closeups.

Hi Wendy, I've just dealt with exactly the same problem, unfortunately we lost some of our most important breeder before we found the cause You need to obtain a product made by vettafarm, either as a ready to use or a concentrate, called Avian Insect Liquidator, it is designed for caged birds so is very safe for poultry, you'll need to make up a dip and dunk all your birds in it to make sure it doesn't re occur, and after that you can use the wsh in a spray bottle to treat all the pens, perches nesting boxes and change the litter, as if you have lice on the bird, you'll likely have mites in the enclosure, we found out the hard way, but if you catch it early enough, you will have great success!! Good luck!

Hi Wendy, I'm not sure if you have a better pet's & gardens in your area, but they are the only one's that I could get to order it for me, but some of the stock feed stores may have it in your area, I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful

Hi Beck, I haven't used malawash before so i couldn't comment on it's affectiveness I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that the malawash uses Malathene ( hope i spelt it right ) I have been told that although it may not kill the birds, and can cause other problems, like egg laying, and breeding problems, and it may cause internal problems, like with the liver or the kidneys. There is a wealth of information on the net, both for it's use and against it's use, I know plenty of people that swear by it, and i know people that have lost their entire flocks from it, although it in most cases does come down to not being careful enough with the dosage rates, but i prefer to use safer alternatives, atleast I know that ther are no hidden side affects from it's use.
