Hi all just letting you know that 6 of the eggs that my little frizzle was sitting on hatched yesterday. I was quite surprised as I thought they would not survive the heat from the last few weeks. Just goes to show that hens can actually keeps the eggs roughly even temp even when it's soooo hot.
I sold/gave away most of my x breeds this weekend so finally have the room to add new chickens. Unfortunately still got heaps of roosters though...god know what I am going to do with them.
I also just went and picked up some day old silver laced and golden laced wyandottes this morning. 5 of each and can't wait to see what they turn out like. knowing my luck they will all be roosters. Contemplating putting them under another broody hen to save the mess but stillgot them under heat lamp at the moment
I will post some pictures as soon as it cools down a bit

Sounds good lakelands Looking forward to the piccies, and I reckon definately put them under a broody if you can. It saves so much work, especially in this heat. What rotten luck farmchooks!. I know that would happen to me if I bought day old chicks so I wont let myself lol

Geraldton is where I have been hiding visiting family, was great to catch up with some who I only see annually. But this makes it a very busy visit but worth it. We had a great time
