and wondering if this day will ever finish. Our systems are down and I have run out of things to do. I wish I could go home and see what's happening in the chook run. I only have 2 more weeks to wait for my new babies I hope all the heat last week hasn't spoilt them. I've also got another hen going clucky so wondering wether I should stick some eggs under her. I am starting to realise that most of the chicks that hatched in October are going to be roosters. don't know what I'm going to do with them as they are all cross breeds. mostly Araucana X's and almost all are black.....I'll have to find homes for them before I get too attached to them . Does anyone know where I can find homes for them

you Could always set up a web cam so you could see what the chookens are up to while you are at work.

Great idea H7....I will have to get my daughter onto it...she's in IT so maybe it can be done..although the chook run is a far way from the house and power so maybe just pipedream. I think if our collective workmates had a chance we'd all be in the same loony bin. My workmates think I'm mad too lol

Actually they are the ones missing out, it is so much satisfaction in looking out the window and watching my babies.

I take time out in the chook pen....lol.... and so does my daughter Here is my script for stress I prescribe mucking out of coups, cleaning out water bowls, filling up food containers, raking the yard, spreading out new hay, putting up fly stickies (non toxic of course), checking how many flies have been caught on said stickies, planting plants, watering said plants, when all this is done grab a seat and coffee (or wine, depending on the time of day) and just watch. If you have some very tame chookens they will come over to you and sit with you and maybe, just maybe let you pat them....but not too much....lol
Take once a day, or part thereof as required. Works everytime

Yesterday was not a good day with my 5 year old grandson, but early in the day we took some canned corn down to the chooks. My 6 year old granddaughter was hand feeding the corn to the chooks and much to our delight grandson wanted to do it too. Was delightful to watch.

That sounds lovely fluffy I cant wait til my son is a little older and can start interacting with the chooks more. Mind you, I can just picture the lil bugger going around opening all the gates and letting the breeds mingle because he wanted them to 'play' lol . Note to self, move all the gate latches higher up on the gates
