well, we fly out this morning to Broome for a week, daughter number 2 is getting married on New Years Eve at Cable Beach have left 3 pages of instructions for the kids on how to look after the chookens while we are gone. Have got backup organised for chooken problems and a backup for horse problems, so all should be well, mind you am still a bit worried as we are going to have a heat wave while we are gone. Was going to get backup for kid problems as well out of habit, but I then I thought, Kids will be OK hopefully, the oldest one staying at home is 30, possibly could take offence if I get a babysitter in. Hope you guys all have a great and safe New Year and will speak to you all next week.

Have a great time and think of us sweltering down here. Your animals will be fine, let go (remind myself to let go)....lol As for the 30 year, I would definatley leave a baby sitter, sheesh, they get upto so much mischief....lol Looking forward to some fabulous piccies when you come home.

Well we are back, had a great time in Broome and my little grand daughter had her first sleepover with Nan and she was soooo good. The guys did really well looking after the chookens and animals, didnt lose any of the chookens in the breeding yards, but lost a few of the 12 week olds. Could have been a lot worse with how hot it was in Perth while we were gone. Even the house was tidy when we got back, not even any dishes in the sink, they had even done some washing. They asked us not to go away again and I thought ohisnt that sweet they missed us, but my delusions were quickly shattered as it was the amount of work they had to do while we were gone that was the problem. Will post some piccies as soon as I can.

Judy, we've missed you, great to have you back. I nearly lost a 14 week old to the heat, fortunately he is ok. I thought I had respiratory problems but it turned out to be heat stress from the sudden change. Would you believe OH offered to put an old air con in the chicken coup if I thought it would help. Image how people would react, 'It's only a CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!"....lol. They do not understand. I was very touched but declined as they would never acclimatise. I have planted more lawn and wet down the shaded areas. Now I only have to be careful of cocci, sheez, you can never win. I love it when you go away and come home to a clean house, shows they can do it, just choose not to, but they did miss you. Who else looks after them like mum, no one. Looking forward to some piccies.
