Well the power went out AGAIN today for a few hours due to maintenance and of course I have 2 full incubators. When we have no power, we also have no water, and NO COMPUTER, so I wandering around trying to find stuff to do, didnt want to go and talk to the little chickies as their brooders would have been off and didnt want to disturb them, so I thought no worries I might have to do some housework, thought I could wash the floor, wrong, no water, what a shame. So I ended up reading a good book, yep you guessed it, A book about orpingtons,

It's great to have a good book to read when nothing else can be done. but then it's bit hard to put it down and get back to the daily grind.

Hah, so typical of a chicken enthusiast... Why read novels when you can read about your bubs and look at the pictures! Nah, I'm glad you found something to do, but do the power strikes afect the bubs and peeps? i read a study on temperature ranges and cooling periods on the growth of chickens and it stated that leaving the eggs for up to 40mins a day can actually stimulate their growth as the broody hen would hop off the eggs everyday to feed/forrage...have you heard this before? What about a few hours?

I must need therapy, I don't have any books on chickens, but I do a lot of looking on the net. Does that count? Interesting about the cooling of eggs Yam, I hope it is right as still air incubators are not know for stable temps. Maybe that is why my last hatch was so successful. OK everybody throw out those fans...lol
