Hi guys, well I was really disappointed that the area where I was going to build the bantam run is infested with Peruvian Lily or Alstroemaria. I did a google search just to be on the safe side and they are really toxic. So now I have to try and get rid of them. I decided I am going to put roundup on them and then cover that section with something to stop them coming up. Probably weedmat and some slabs. That is where I was going to put there house anyway, but now Im worried they are going to come up all over the run as they have become quite a weed in our garden. So this weekend I am tidying up in the chicken run, armed with hedge clippers, loppers, rake, etc. etc. There is a lemon tree, rose bush, may and a few other things that I will be hacking back to make way for the fence. The may bush has honeyeaters nest with baby in it!! So they dont get too upset, I will be leaving that one unitl they have moved out

Sounds like you've got some work ahead of ya wendy You'll find that chooks generally seem to have a sixth sense about what bad for them and whats not and most of the time wont touch something thats poisonous. But having said that, better to be safe than sorry

I know. chooks are usually pretty good at steering clear of nasty things but I have just waiting so long for these babies, I didnt want to risk it. Especially as they dont have mummy chook to guide them. Im mummy chook
