Hi guys, with budgets tightening and christmas around the corner, I thought we could all share some $$ saving tips for Xmas. What do you think?
To start the ball rolling, I will share a couple of the things that makes Xmas shopping easier on the pocket. Everytime I do my grocery shopping I buy one of the store giftcards for $10-$20 you barely notice it added to the weekly shopping. Then when I go to buy all the Xmas food etc. I have a nice little stash of gift cards to go towards it. Or it frees up my grocery money for other items if needed too like last minute gifts, petrol or whatever.
Also my family has started a secret santa for the adults (not the kids) so we all dont have to buy a gift for each person. We just get a name of a family member and we buy a pressie for them for Xmas day. Anybody like to share other ideas?

Cut up the credit card...lol Put a price limit on presents and buy only one. (Reminder to self about grandchildren). As families get larger, stop getting pressies for adults or buy a family gift. Give adults small gifts, like flowers, chocolates, bottle of wine, chook food, vouchers for favourite store or shopping centre.

we make alot of our pressies. Last year we bought white coffe mugs & porcelaine paint in 3 colours. The kids painted each cup & we baked them in the oven. They were well received. I also bake shortbread, mini xmas cakes & other goodies & wrap them in a new teatowel with tartan ribbon around it. I make cookies in a jar for the kids which is basically all the dry ingredients layered in a bottling jar with the instructions attatched & a pretty bit of material on top. You can also do this with tea mixes, hot chocolate mixes etc. This year we're going to pick lavender & dry it for lavender bags & make hair scrunchies for the girls. We'll do a bit more thinking on the boys pressies.
