Hello, Today I picked up 3 khaki cambells from a member here, they are so cute ;D They are only 8 weeks old and I am unsure what to feed them for the rest of their lives. Today I gave them lettuce and Turkey pellets but I will go to stockfeeds tomorrow to get the right stuff. What I would like to know is... A- what do I feed them at this age? B- At what age do I change their feed to something else? C- What do they eat as adults? D- Do they need special food for laying? D- Is there anything they can't/shouldn't eat because it isn't good for them or is poisonous to them? E- How often do I feed them? I have been looking on the net and see they love snails, which is great because I have hundreds of small white ones I want to make sure they have the proper diet so they have a happy healthy life... Thanks

Hi fancy, firstly we'd (well I'd) love to see some piccies Here's my answers to your questions, but take from them what you will as everyone has their own ways of doing things A: At that age I'd be feeding mine Pullet Grower, which is readily available at most stockfeeds or I usually get mine from Better Pets & Gardens. B:At 12 weeks old I start feeding mine Poultry Mix coz thats what everyone else eats around here C:Again, as adults mine eat Poultry Mix which I find good because its got things like sunflower seeds, maize and lupins which are great for the ducks plumage. D: No, they dont need special food for laying, mine lay and they just eat Poultry Mix, supplemented with green grass(when we've got it lol), vegie scraps, the odd worm or slug (again, not many of them around here) and sometimes I chuck some pond weed (dont ask me what its called lol) into their pond and they love that too. D2: You'll find most vegie scraps and common weeds are fine to feed them. I avoid avocado's and potatoes tho but thats just personal preference. Not actually sure whether poisonous or not. Here's a link, although it's american it will give you some ideas of poisonous stuff: www.poultryhelp.com/toxic1.htmlE: My ducks get fed the poultry mix morning and evening but again thats just my routine. Some people only feed their poultry once a day, it just depends on what suits you. They get grass, vegie scraps etc once a day or when I feel like it Hope that helped a bit

I have an all day feeder and use poultry mix on mature ducks. Avocado is a no no, and potato peelings are not recommended, especially if they have green bits which is toxic. Mine free range along with the chooks. They LOVE lettuce and thistle. At the moment the weeds are still going strong so they are happy, soon all will die off and it will be the lettuce and scraps we give them. I have my first ducklings due to hatch on Tuesday. Very excited, but not letting anyone, even myself know.

I have the food out all day for my ducks. They mostly eat the grass.
