Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me. I've recently started collecting chooks....well mostly roosters out of 10 chicks ended up with 7!!! Am finding it difficult to explain to a 4 year old where all of her buddies have gone! I'm trying to source a pullet or two, our roosters were Australorp (blue) and G.L. Wyandottes...would love these breeds but also willing to take any other egg laying feathered friend...!
My ph number is 0403312335 (Kim) I'm in Roleystone

Hi Kim, well where did they go...lol Sorry, it can be very hard on both of you. Can you keep any roosters? You could explain that there are boy chooks and girl chooks. Boys are very noisy and some people get very grumpy with them so we needed to find new homes for our boys where people don't get grumpy with them. Keep it simple. Good luck with finding some pullets, maybe someone else can put you onto some. A couple of websites you may look at are
chooknet.com.au backyardpoultry.com
If nothing there, put a wanted post on.

Hi Michelle, What chooks did you get, it's so exciting when you bring them home, and even more so when you get the eggs...yep I'm a bit sad! My other half picked up 4 isa's so I'll pass on the hylines....call me a snob but I really want to find more blue australorps or even more wyandottes (to replace the boys!)....they're so gorgeous to look at, we spend hours in the chook pen just watching!
And thanks fluffychook for you advice! we have exlplained the neighbours disliking the noise...it's more of a concern if I get 'cluckie' and buy more chicks and have them ended up boys too.....lol My 4y/o gets so attached to the girls(and boys!), she loves nothing more than to head up to the coop for a little cuddle!

Hi Kim
I know what you mean about being a bit of a snob, I wanted pretty ones as well. I was lucky enough to get a gold laced wyandotte and an Australorpe (12 weeks old) that had been hand raised, and today I bought a coronation sussex who is 7 months old.
Hubby (who has been adamant that three chooks be the limit,)asked why I didn't bring home two today, after thoroughly enjoying making their new home, he has already mentioned how to make it bigger if we wanted to in the future.
The wyandottes are gorgeous! I would now love a silver laced and a pencilled wyandotte and I think something light cream coloured. I might have to wait for the additional wyandottes, but maybe one isa could join our little flock:)
I saw a blue Australorpe today as well, and they are beautiful, so one of them would be nice as well.
I'd love to breed them, are you looking for homes for your boy wyandottes? (I didn't want one, but hubby likes them so much its probably unlikely but he may might agree to some babies:)
LOL. My name is Michelle and I am a chook addict.

Michelle, I wish I had sent the post earlier unfortunately the roosters have all gone....a friend took them off our hands... The wyandotte roosters were beautiful but my favorite out of the lot was my blue australorp rooster. Charlie (yes I'm sad and have named them!) was so tame and had the most gorgeous colouring...I would definitely recommend blue australorps! I would have loved to have kept him but being on only 1/2 an acre....well the neighbours were a little too close! I must admit we have three chicks at the moment...fingers crossed they're girls! One is a silver laced and the other two light sussex...I bought them from Liz at Herne Hill
Beck thanks for the advice, I will certainly keep an eye our in the quokka etc and if by any chance you have any spare gold laced girls please think of me lol!
Anyway must get back to work, can't spend all day thinking of chooks!
My name is Kim and I'm a chookaholic!
