Hi all i seem to be still having the same problem i have a lamping of 80 percent on hatching only 50 percent hatch alive the others are full term in the shell just gave up for some reason in the last few days Any ideas please
I have been having the same problem. Sometimes the hatch rate is as low as 20%. Now I am waiting for hens to go broody and then let them do it naturally. Had 4 out of 7 chicks with splayed legs. They were fine in the incubator but developed splayed legs in the brooder. I use sand in the brooder, so it is not slippery. Not sure what the problem is.
Yep looking into it they could be drowning in there shell the sticker on rhe side of the bator gave the instructions so i just followed them We are away over east for the next few weeks have someone looking after it all turkeys have started to sit one hen broody so spring is on its way at last it will be interesting to see what has hatched by the time i get back
I done quite a few experiments on humidity over the years , its the average over the whole period that matters leave it dry for the first 7-14 days then add some at the end for hatching if you feel the need . i have had a good hatch in the past from no added water the whole way thru and if was only on 30% humidity. Have you tried this year yet ?
