Sounds like your dorking is firing blanks. What luck! My Australorp hen is broody. I'll slip the chicks under her when they hatch. No work for me!!

Ha its like winning the lotto i have only had one broody this year as for the dorking i think i will give him one last chance then its retirement time

I got 48 chicks hatched out from my lot they started before I got eggs out of the turner bit warm but not bad for dry incubation.

That is good i will have to try this dose you bator rise in temperature when it gets about 36 to 38 degrees do u put any water in at all at the start or do you just leave it dry

I was a bit lazy and only checked them once a week . I put a little bit of water in the cabinet type at the start and when I candled it it sat around 25% humidity my little one I put none in but did use a wet cloth to clean egg cartons it had high humidity right thro it didn't do as well.

Thanks guys i have kept my ones at 55 and later 70 to 80 percent all the way from the start the next lot i will leave dry watch this space ??

Mine is currently sitting at around 40% with no water in it. Can the 40% be coming from the eggs?

Yes it does that's how the air space gets larger as the time goes on I put some Stuart in from the cool room and u could see the eggs covered in water for the first couple days

4 days totally dry but humidity staying at 40%. Candling them tonight to see how the rooster is performing.

2 dozen eggs set, removed 4 not fertile and 1 blood ring. Will candle again on Sunday.
