It is set for 5 degrees C , it is very dry and warm up here we had 31 degrees the other day . I was not expecting any to hatch , I just wanted to try it as curiosity was getting the better of me . My chooks have dropped off the egg laying already . I lost 3 hens last week and sold all my campines and leghorn except a couple of off types . Will look to down size a few more if no rain comes soon as I will be forced to get work off farm .

At 5 degrees, the eggs should not be viable. I tried with eggs from the fridge and none hatched. They were only a week old.
I think everyone is expecting a dry and warm spring. Not good. Hopefully you'll get some rain soon.
You guys must be busy getting the nursery ready for bub. Must be getting exciting in your household.

Got a dorper ewe lamb yesterday. She is 10 months old, though on the small side. My ten month old merino ewe is a lot taller and longer. Hopefully she will put on some size and give us nice fat lambs for the freezer. I am still waiting for lambs to drop. So far only one ewe lamb about 2 plus months old.
Not a good weekend, our house got broken into while we were in York. A real bummer. They kicked the door in. Second one in a year! Mongrels.

Sorry to here that chooky. I had posted here a couple days back but it did not appear. Pure bred dorpers are much smaller than a merino but the crosses are big and mature early I had a good lambing this year 566 lambs marked from 466 ewes joined. I hope the police catch the robbers soon.

This place is getting bad crime wise. A few of the neighbours have also been broken into recently.
With Rammy's genes, her lambs should be big. She is part of triplets, so she may produce triplets too. I have been doing mob grazing, though over a bigger area, moving them once a week. The grazed area recovers very quickly and much greener. So it must be working, sort of. Next is to see if the grass will last longer as the weather dries up in the coming months.
120% lambing is very good. Quite a few twins then.

We had 14 mm over two days it was usefull a bit more would have been nice but better than none I got to do the fire break without the plough going sideways on the hard ground. My hatches have been low on the pure breeds some breeds have had none fertile so have given them a bottom trim . Hope you get some Indians out.

There must be something in the air, my first hatch I put 12 eggs in 5 weren't fertile, of the other 7 only 5 hatched and they are all cockerels. I have another 23 eggs in the incubator due for candling this Saturday. I hope they are good and there are a few pullets.
