Lost my only remaining adult IG. Don't exactly know what happened. It was warm on the weekend but there was plenty of drinking water, shed and the ground was wet and cool. found her dead on the ground, very awkward position, as if laying on her tummy with her legs sticking out the back sunning herself. She laid an egg beforehand.
I am at a lost.

Heart attack ? Hard feather varieties can drop dead for no reason. My hen has given up sitting on her eggs

Whatever it is, it's a massive blow. They are hard to come by and I was planning on breeding her with the few chicks recently hatched in 6 months time.

Sorry for everyone's losses lately. We have been lucky and not lost any to the heat but they do get special attention during heat waves. Hope the neighbours didn't see us setting up a fan next to our grower shed lol.

Imagine the number had you not used the sprinklers. Hopefully no more heat wave for a while.
