At the rate you are going, you'll need a few more brooders.

Oh I still have one I haven't put together yet but plan to make a stand to hold both off the ground to make it easier for cleaning it is that warm up here that I have all except the last lot down in the grower shed off the heat they seam to do much better in a bigger pen , the challenge will be when they get half grown will need to make at least one more pen.

Well two had managed to break into the air sack but are too weak to get any further I have tried to open one up to see if it helps but in the last lot all the ones I helped died by 4 days later.

I have 12 hatched now with 3 more pipping and 1 egg no sign so if the 3 piped eggs hatch it will be a good hatch and exciting news 2 Plymouth rocks hatched and 2 of the remaining piped eggs are Plymouth the other is the 3 marans egg so I have 1 pure indian the rest are crosses 8 all up so it took 8 days for the change of rooster to work.

Lots of chicks around for everyone it seems . My godburd chicks hatched yesterday 9 out of 11 viable eggs . They are such nice natured birds but hard it get any information about them. My other chicks are doing well but I am scared to let them freerange because of the foxs . It does feel like I am back into it ,sitting on the computer on WA POULTRY and listening to chicks in the brooder in my office.

Annie,
How many incubators are you running at the moment?
You need to sort out the foxes or you wouldn't enjoy the chooks as much. I know the feeling well. Now, even though I don't have chooks in York anymore, I still stress about the foxes. I have traps and baits out to try to sort out the foxes. The next step is hot wires before I bring them back. I do enjoy watching them roam the place doing their thing.

Just hatched 4 Bantam Saxony ducklings. So cute but so messy . Thanks Trev :)Im about to set some of my Orpington girls eggs ,and that will be it for a while (I TELL MYSELF) I just have to keep the chooks locked Chooky until the fox stuff fixed .I will be setting up the solar electric fence again this weekend I am looking for a home for my big pekin girl duck ,I am only going to keep the bantams because of space now they are locked in.
