Annie,
I am left with the drake, both ducks are gone. I may give him away. He needs ducks for company. The hens in the pen are not much company for him.

CK,
I take the 6 indian game eggs, 8 new Hampshire, 2 maran, 2 glw and the balance rir. How does that sound? A good mix? I have never had wyandottes before so should be interesting.
I might get some sussex down the track as well.

OK sorted out as I had some going to Gero today with Mrs Canna , I got 2 silver laced out this morning due tomorrow but look like I have to help all the duck eggs to hatch they seam too big for the egg. the GLW are from Annie's line I kept 1 rooster and gave a buff to D and he hatched just 1 gold laced pullet out plus some buff laced so he gave me the GLW pullet and a buff the lacing is terrible on the buff but nice shape she has 10 chicks with her at the moment.

I have never had to help the ducks out in the incubator or under the broody. Were the ducklings weak after being helped out?

I don't help them right out just peel enough to get the head out then leave them , 1 had managed to manouver its foot to the hole they just look very large.

Ducklings do look too big to fit in the egg. The ones I have incubated seem to go from pip to hatch in a very short time compared to some chook eggs.

How many duck eggs do you have hatching? I have found that ducks do recover faster from the hatch than chicks.
