I used an insecticide concentrate, diluted to double recommended strength and soak the wool and skin with it, after shearing off the affected and surrounding wool. The chemical kills the maggots almost instantly. I couldn't believe how many there were.

I use Cydectin to worm the sheep. This also treats other parasites. Will this kill the maggots as well?

never tried it and only one way to find out next time you have a blown sheep give it to her you can kill maggots with fly killer but you need to get the ones have have buried under the skin Trev

I was thinking since it kills external parasites because the chemical is in the bloodstream, the maggots eating the flesh will get it too.
But I am quite happy with what I did previously. It was too hard to do, though it was upsetting to see it happen to the poor ewe.
