I thought I would post a picture of my creation. We call it the Igloo eventhough technically it isn't an igloo. It keeps our little ones safe from the crows and other nasties.

Yes fluffychook I do have to get in there to catch them but that does mean I can give each one a cuddle as I put them into the basket to take them inside.
As for the door farmchooks, I used the black pipe with dowel reinforcing and L joiners. The hinges are pieces of polypipe.

Did you make the whole thing out of polypipe? Do you think if you use a few more t joiners and put pipe across the floor, then there would be no need for wire on the floor. I have found my chicks prefer no wire on the floor when they have their outings in other cages, they can scratch around better.

I am also interested in how you made it, I had a go of making one out of PVC pipe, but yours looks a lot easier to build. This is my attempt

Fluffychook, I didn't put wire on the floor it is completely scratchable. You could add more T joiners though and you could also consider constructing it out of thin conduit. I used the black pipe because it is cheaper or do I mean cheep. Sorry! The T joiner, I also peg it down with tent pegs just to be safer. The corner joiner allows three pieces to be joined together. An inside view. Plenty of room. H7 I love you creation. I actually considered making one when I first saw your design but I only needed something to keep my babies safe for now.

Hi Chooken, by using the PVC it worked out to be approx $140 for all the pipe and joiners etc, but I did a few joiners spare, this was not including the wire, would you mind saying how much yours was to build, as I would like to make some more but want to do it as CHEEP!!! as possible (I liked your word pun)

All up it cost me about $100. That also included the wire. I too over estimated on the joiners but at least I know for next time. I bought my supplies from the big place starting with B. I am sure if you looked around you would probably find things cheaper. I only went there for convenience. I already have my next project in mind. A slighly squarer version.

Thanks gsqueak. Why don't you try making it yourself? I used small holed chicken wire. I considered using plastic mesh or bird netting but I wanted something sturdier than that.
