i was hoping to be able to put chicks hatching into incubator under a broody silkie, whose eggs for various reasons seemed unviable. much to my shock, as the eggs began to hatch, flashdance began to unbrood herself yesterday evening in desperation, knowing flashdance to be an excellent mum, i put all dozen or so chicks in with her in a cat cage, hoping against hope..............................................inspection a wee while later showed all chickies to be under mum. i have been out all day, and this is what i have come home to, flashdance bokking away to her new charges, and them playing hide and seek under their new mum............adoption was successful playing hide and seek i am very happy for this batch of chicks as flashdance is one of my best broody hens

Love the colours you have there. Any idea what they will become? Flashdance is definately a lovely hen. It's great when adoption goes smoothly

Mum and babies look very happy, you are lucky to have such a great natured hen that will adopt chicks like that.
