Went to the Beverley Show on Saturday. Quite an impressive show for a little country town. Much better than last year's York show. The poultry show was quite disappointing though. Not many birds and of those shown, a few had scaley leg mites. But we enjoyed the day. The wife liked the black cattle on show. The black shiny coats were beautiful. She also liked the little piglet in the petting zoo. The kids just wanted bags and games at the sideshow section. Some sheep on show though we all agreed that they were not as big as our ram. I think we are biased of course.

A lot of the country shows are getting smaller , it needs more people to enter again , Mullewa is on this Saturday I am still hoping to put a handful in .

I enjoy the country town shows. It is less crowded and you get to have a good look at things, unlike the Perth Royal Show. My one complain is there should be more food outlets at the show. The line was so long just to order food followed by the wait for the order to be ready.
Agree that more people should move to the smaller towns. We have only had our place in York for 3+ years. During this time a few businesses have closed. Very sad. Being only about an hour from Perth more should be done to attract the Perth people to drop in for day trips or weekend stayover.

I am hoping to put in blue and black australorp cockerels and a black australorp pullet and maybe my Plymouth Rock hen , I was think of the gold laced wyandottes but there pen is extremely muddy and I didn't get my training pens made. Plus I only can transport 5 till I get more carry boxes. Oh and my RIR's

Looks like you'll be busy washing them the next couple days. I saw training pens built out of a bookcase. This was secured onto a trailer to transport the birds. There must have been at least 20 birds all up. There were two bookcases. A tarp was used to cover the wire front to limit the airflow on the road.
All my birds are covered in mud. I'll have to get them some dry sand to dust bath in to clean themselves up.
