Well chooks are great.. I have 3 kids that didn't come from a shell and 5 that did with 7 more on the way. Yes that's right I am expecting. Wyandottes and austrolorps. I currently have Penny whom we purchased at the Royal Show. She is a Sussex and has become foster carer for 4 silkie chicks. (All with various names depends on which child is talking to them). We are trying to get a Noah's Ark of chickens for our school. We are trying to show the kids that eggs come from chickens, come in all shapes and sizes and how they grow and develop.. We currently have 5 chooks at school a old English bantam named queen lizzy, Australian Langshan, a langshan bantam named Lilly, 2 Barnvelders, pudding and the other chook. These would have to some of the most loved chooks in Perth. The kids sit in with them before, during and after school. The children were so excited when we got our first egg from the girls. 300 or so children, 5 chooks that's a heap of love. We are looking to get a maran, Orpington, Plymouth Rock and I want to get a naked neck just so the kids can see that not everything or one is "beautiful" but has form, function and can still be loved. Diversity in the city. We grow veggies and resilient kids.. My own human children are 2 teenagers and one almost. Two hens and a rooster. I have my own rooster with whom I have been married to for 20 years. He is a very patient man. Our next lot of babies are due to hatch in 12 days. My mother in law would probably be a mixed breed bantam that was a great mother to all.
