Hi Everyone western power is turning the power off for 7 hours next. I have some chicks that will be 3 weeks old by then. Will the chicks be ok without 7 hours of no heat lamp? Any ideas and advice welcome. Thanks Linda

Yep, I'd say that 7 of them would snuggle up together and keep each other warm by 3 weeks old If you're really worried (or they make a heap of noise, indicating that they are cold) you could make them up a cold brooder? (basically just a box small enough for them all to crowd under and keep the warmth in) But I'd be pretty certain they'll be fine

If you have gas you could warm up some water and put a warm hot water bottle in with them. That might help.

My 3 week old chicks are already outdoors with no heating without any issues. They keep each other warm at night.

Thanks Everyone for your advice. I will give the hot water bottle idea a go and have a cold brooder on stand by. I will kelp their little Tassie bottoms warm one or another. Cheers Linda
