basically go on a rule of thumb, when it gets unpleasant or approaching unpleasant you change all teh bedding and the flooring.
you will get to recognise when the coop needs changing without it becoming unpleasant, it depends on teh time of year and where you are
changing the nest boxes for example may need to be done more frequentlyl
what are you using on the floor of your coop and in the nest boxes?

At the moment we dont have nesting boxes because the girls arent laying yet (will they start laying without nesting boxes?) and for the floor we straw.
Both of these id love comment on because im learning everything as i go along. I was recommended the straw from one of the parents at school.
Being a school organisation we need everything to be easy to obtain fairly cheap and easy to maintain.
Thanks for all your help Jacquie!

Hi Ryan, I use straw/hay on my coop floor and woodshavings in the nest boxes. My hens started to lay in the corners of the coop and not in the nest boxes, so yours wont need nest boxes to start laying but once they do it might be a good idea to get some or make some from bricks and cover with shadecloth or off cuts of roof sheeting etc, then put their eggs or false eggs in the boxs so they get the idea where to lay, it also makes it easier for collection and you don't have to worry about where you tread . I clean my coop out about every 6 months or so and it never smells but like they say go by the smell or do it as often as you want, I don't like disturbing them too much. Hope this helps, Lloyd
