Thanks quambie for planting the seed in my head. I thought we could run a competition on who has the largest egg. This is just for fun. We could do this in 4 sections. Chicken egg, Duck egg, Bantam egg and Turkey egg. I was thinking we could do this like follows. 1. Take a picture of your recent large egg sitting on the scales, that shows the weight of the egg. 2. Add your picture to our Largest egg competition. 3. Tell us which breed it came from. 4. Remember this is for fun. If anyone wants to add to this idea feel free. Cheers Linda

Here is my largest egg to date. Laid on the 19/1/2011 from my hyline chook. 71 grams

What about using the breed of fowl as a guide for example bantams come in all sizes and so do the larger breeds.

Sorry don't have a pic it was a while ago but my mum had a RIR that layed a 92gram egg. It was a one off they average 70gms.

here are a few of the eggs I posted a while ago from 50 grams to 100 grams I would not like to have laid that one 100 gram Light Sussex 72 gram Wallsumer, 60 gram Hampshire Trev

Ok You are onto something with this Linda what would be the average size of an egg from each breed this is an interesting one I know the Light Sussex eggs I have in the photo are all over the place from the same age birds the get the same feed there in the same pen how strange they differ in size so much are there any pages on this anywhere Trev

Should have taken a photo ... we have just had two double yolker eggs ... from our Jap Quail! Kids thought it was great. Weight - 20g ouch!!
