Trev our river water is very high in salt. Something to do with overflow from irrigation channels where the water is sourced from the wellington dam. They are trying to fix it by flushing the dam somehow but I don't think it was very successful.
Jaydon, are you feeding your sick chook the rickets diet as well? I really hope she gets better soon, poor thing.

Hi organic girl have you had the river water tested to see what the salt content is stock and some plants will except a higher amount of salt in the drinking water sheep and cows will I do not know about chooks but it may be worth looking into though if its good to drink for your stock you have plentiful supply Good luck trev

Hi all Just an update to say that there has been no change in the sick chook. I feed her every day still but appears no better. Am making sure she has apple cider vinegar and sometimes add epsom salts. I then give her fruit or vege scraps after and make sure she has some water. I don't believe that she will end up getting better. I do hope she does though.
