This is our weekends project. Yesterday we put up the frame using bamboo from our neighbour. Today, with the kids help, we covered it. Its come up pretty good and should work. We haven't had a lot of fruit off our trees yet as they are young. This year we have a lot of fruit forming and didn't want to be feeding the wildlife

Hi Shea I love the idea of using bamboo as a frame. Peter and I have also covered our orchard this weekend. We sunk the 3 metre pine poles into the ground next to the chook pen, we have put in a gate and strung wire cable in a criss cross shape and have run the bird netting across it , we have to sew the netting to each other in 3 sections. We have called it a day for now as Pete is off to Tassie for a week and we will do the finishing touches next weekend and I will post some photos. I am a bit sore now I can only imagine how I will feel tomorrow!! My chookie came 2nd in her class at the show. Cheers Linda

Hi Linda, congrats on the 2nd place at the show. Yours covering sounds a lot more involved than ours. Jim and the kids puts up the posts while I weeded and then we covered it the next day in about 30 minutes. Our netting was wide enough that we didn't need to join anything.
