Hi, I have 3 ducks, mum, dad and their baby girl 8 months old and just wanted some advice. Both girls have recently started laying, unfortunately dad has been mating with the baby so I cant let any of her eggs hatch can I? I havnt actually seen the the 2 parents mate, so I'm not sure if mums eggs are fertile, do you think it is likely that they are? Another problem is now they have both started laying in the same nest! I want to let them hatch some babies so I think my only soloution is to buy some fertile eggs for them to hatch. I dont know how that is going to go though with them sharing a nest, do you think they could fight? I havnt seen any fights over it yet. I have never given them fertile eggs to hatch before, how do I go about it? Do I have to wait until they have laid a dozen of their own and then switch them, or can I put a dozen out straight away? Also does anyone have anyfertile eggs for sale? Thanks heaps for anyones advice Also one of them the other day laid a huge double yolker, I was so shocked! Does anyone come across that often? I'll put a picture up soon, I was so surprised how big it was! Could an egg like that hatch twins? Just had another thought, is there away to tell who laid which eggs? Thanks!

HI monaro28 I cant help you out with that one, all I know about ducks these days it that they get stolen. I would not think that it would make a lot of difference to the outcome on the dad and daughter thing, they must do it in the wild and you do not see any wild ducks running around with one leg up in place of a wing ;D ;D ;D goo luck Trev

My Mum had ducks that did the whole father/daughter thing! She ended up hatching 20 odd very healthy little ducklings - so I wouldn't worry too much about it! Just let them lay and sit when they're ready! Soon you'll be overrun with gorgeous little duckies! ;D Hope your nasty duck theives have moved far far away trev - if you're lucky karma will get 'em and they'll choke on a chicken bone!

You will fine he is mateing with both leave some eggs there about 12 mark them so you know there the older eggs then when one of your ducks starts to sit she will line it with her feathers put 12 newer eggs there do not wash your eggs and turn them twice a day untill you put them under her and dont put eggs in the fridge good luck it dose not matter which duck sits on them then 28 days you will have babys.

Thinking on this would they not mate with any female in the wild you do not see three headed ducks flying around so I would think that it will not heart Trev
