Hi everyone! I have finally plucked up the courage to venture into this new idea of technology, so forgive me, I have no idea what I'm doing!I read WAP nearly everyday (especially when husband is out and I am sneakily looking for MORE poultry). We live in a 100 yr old farmhouse with an 80 yr old chook pen! So now it is my life's ambition to fill it up! I bought some Light Sussex last year and now I'm addicted. I have also Speckled Sussex, Jap Bantams, Pekins, Muscovies and Khaki Campbells. I'm not into showing but admire anyone who does. My lot are basically pets, egg producers and entertainment!

Hello all you down under, it has been a year since I have been on WAP. Hope you are all fairing well. As you can tell I have amassed yet more chookies and am getting yet more in the mail from hatcheries soon, including rocks for a color project & alot of meaties and dark cornish for the barbie. That order is for 25 cornish cross (to grow out & put in the freezer) and 3 dark cornish cockerals to have over about 4 or 5 Buckeye hens. The Buckeye hens lay a large brown egg, and the Buckeyes have a stout build, broad chest and when ever we get low on chicken to eat, all I have to do is set a batch in my incubator. This may be a long post. I know by now you are in your dry spell, as I recall Lakelands and pianochook discussing this time last year you were just getting rain in the form of horrible T-storms. We here on the west coast of the USA have been besieged by torrential rains, T-storms, hail & snow even now as it is our spring, should be clear & 70 degrees. We have had a horrible winter with non stop precipitation since fall, which was September. Seriously, I can recall only 3 dry days. Two were cloudy windy & 20 degrees colder than it should be. Day before yesterday was clear, and 77 degrees and almost too suddenly hot. We are all fish belly white with lack of sun. I also wanted to ask yet another stupid yank question, (and hopefully Murphy does not answer, as he is one to poke fun at me ;D) as a friend here insists that there are lots of monkeys in Australia... ;D and I told her no, but they've drop bears and lots of guanas slithering about eating eggs and chicks. LOL Hope you are all doing well, I'll be back as I can~~ Robin in Western Washinton State, USA. P.S. How do you upload photos ?

Well hello, aren't you up late ? Last time I was here, I typed messages and everyone in AU read my messages THE DAY BEFORE I posted them. ODD So you in fact are talking to me from tomorrow (mine) but your yesterday ? Aww it does get confusing. Thanks for the monkey update..the whole thing started with her singing "Kooaburra sits in the old gum tree, laughing at the monkeys he can see" And I of course told her twice that THAT is one weird animals the Aussies DO NOT HAVE down there..and she says oh yes....so, it is in fact: Merry merry king of the bush is he, laugh kookaburra laugh kookaburra..am I right ? So is their a link to "my uploads" where I can upload piccies & then grab the url to post piccies ? I am used to BYC........I am "Chickielady" there on BYC. Gotta go do dinner, nice chatting~~
