It was a great outing. My 6 year old had a great time. We are inspired, next show we are going to have a go at showing some of our hatchings. Came home and picked out which ones will be entered.

Wow! Looks like a great day out! Congrats on your wins and placings! I'd love to go to a show and enter a few birds, but have no idea what the rules are or anything at all really! Is there somewhere that gives you all this info? Do you have to part of a poultry club? Cheers!

the rules, so to speak, are the australian poultry standard which outlines what teh birds should aspire to look like. birds cannot be sick or infested with vermin if you want to show them, and depending on the breed most will need a wash and a bit of a cleanup to be shown to their very best. you don't have to be a member of a puoltry club to show, and there usually are two different entry fees for birds, for members and non members. most clubs have information on helping you learn about showing, and there are experienced members there who are most willing to help you find out. then you need to find out when the shows are on, and websites such as this do help. there is a show next weekend also at gidgegannup, the wapa show, but the entries for that have already closed. it is on on the sunday. the next show i know of is the midland junction poultry show at brown park, midddle swan. noelene teague is the secretary and you can ring her on 9295 1040 and ask her for a schedule, which outlines the classes of birds and has an entry form good luck, i hope you decide to give it a go!!
