can any body recomend a good feed mix or ration as we have loverly health looking birds but the eggs have become fewer last summer so i want to put them on a good mix this year. they are in there secound year of lay

Also be aware that the age of hens make a difference in the quantity of what they lay, the older they get the less they produce, I think the commercial egg laying farms get rid of their hens when they go into their first moult as the first egg laying season is the best.

Hi jillross I find that if I stick to a budget laying pellet to from the base of my chooks diet I can then add in all sorts of treats to up the protein eg; cat food, meaty bones, milk, healthy home grown maggots (yuk) and their most favorite is small fish caught in our farm dams. ;D Cheers Anderw
