Hi Everyone I have noticed a few stickfast fleas on a few birds last week. The week before I used fronline on them as this was about the time of year I do this sort of thing. Does it take a week for the lice, stickfast to die? I also coopexed the pen last weekend aswell as a precaution. Does anyone have any ideas for me to use to kill the stickfasts around the eye area. Thanks Linda

I put olive oil on the blighters with a dropper .one drop on a few it suffocates them .....they die ..form a scab and fall off after a week or so . . Its been a bad year this year .I heard a few others say .front-line is not getting them . so they are using both cooking oil and spray on the neck . I add Neem to my oil but I don't tend to use anything else except diatomaceous earth and lime . Watch for re infestation in a few weeks .Stickies are not easy to get rid of .for each flea on a bird there are about 6-8 in the ground waiting to hatch . Lice are easier to control.

I used avian insecticide (available from pet shop) for stick fast fleas. It has a six week residual effect so will also kill any of the little blighters that hatch out later on. Good luck with the eradication program. I did notice that with this product, the fleas still took about a week to fall off (I applied it carefully around their eyes with a cotton bud). I bet if you were to rub them gently now they would be dead and just fall off.

I use vaseline on the stick fasts here and it has been a bad year. I think the oil would be easier to apply. The little fleas get into all nooks and crannies on the bird .... most annoying.

SHEEP IVOMEC BEST KILLER OF ALL LICE STICK FAST AND WORMS YOUR BIRDS. i DO ANY NEW BIRDS AS THEY ARRIVE EVEN IF THEY LOOK CLEAN ITS EASIER TO BE CAREFULL BUT HARDER TO GET RID OF THEM WHEN THEY ESTABLISH THEMSELVES.
PLAY WATER PISTELS WITH A SYRINGE THEY ONLY NEED A COUPLE DROPS TO GO INTO BLOOD STREAM TO KILL THEM IT TAKES A WEEK OR SO FOR THEM TO DROP OFF ANE YOU DONT HAVE TO CATCH EVERYONE JUST WAIT TILL DARK AND GET THEM SITTING ON THEIR PERCH. THEY THINK IT WAS A BAD DREAM AND BOTTLE IVOMEC WILL LAST YOU FOR YEARS JUST KEEP IN THE DARK LIZ
