Thought i would drop by to say hi to everyone. I live in Geraldton and I have two small children 1 boy and one girl whom are both at that 'trying' age, you know the one where they know everything about something they know nothing about, I breed american bulldogs so i have 5 of them (liberty, Anna, Missy, Buffalo, Baby Biaka and Baby Blue....hmmm thats actually six isnt it......and a husband that gives me a rest 2 weeks out of every three by being kind enough to work 2500km away from home!!
So I have decided I am not busy enough and want to get back into owning some chooks and ducks again, after all, the amount of eggs we go through with the kids eventually it will work out cheaper!!
So thats me in a whim
Cheers Kel

Hi Kel, great to have you with us. American bulldogs, are they the really really cute ones? Best put up some pictures if you can so we can all admire. Yes I know children like that my granddaughter was 3 going on 20, must admit she is a very clever girl.
My sister lives about 15 minutes out of Geraldton and she is a breeder of light sussex, hylines and bantam wyandottes. I have Silkies and just adore them, they make great pets with the added bonus of the occassional egg.
What breed of chooks are you wanting to have.

Hi Kel, I am also fairly new at this forum but not new to chooks. The people on here are great and will answer any questions you have about our feathered friends.. Love to know what sort of chooks you choose.. I have silkies, plymouth rocks, orpingtons and a few isa browns, oh and lets not forget the indian runner ducks..

Many thanks to all for the warm welcome... Hi Kel, great to have you with us. American bulldogs, are they the really really cute ones? Best put up some pictures if you can so we can all admire. Yes american bulldogs are cute the easiest way for you to see them is have a look at our website at www.hamiltonsamericanbulldogs.netOn another note, I do believe that i have met your sister and thank to her we now have the following.....1 x frizzle rooster, 2 x silky hens, 2 x light sussex and i cant remember what the really little ones are!! Then this morning we got 2 polish chickens and adopted a few bantams (not sure what they are) so now our hen house is full... i will take a pic of it when time allows... cheers kel

HI hamma How did you guys think of all the names for your girls The only one I have is for a Isa brown or like bird, that has never laid an egg all the time we have had it, so the name is "Freda the free loader" takes all the best food, and is the ruler of all she has and everyone in the pen. I am not allowed to kill her, she has become somewhat of a talking point when we have dinner parties so she gets to stay . " until one dark night " trev

Oh Trev surely you have room on your farm for one little freeloader, she sounds like a great chook.. I have around 60 chooks and around half have names, but only if they have a special feature that makes them stand out...

I get help from my Granddaughter, she is very good at it. Some names just happen and I find myself referring to them by a name and realise I have named them. Like Freda I have a Tessie as she weighs a tonne so that name was related to something, in this case the saying 10 tonne Tessie. A couple of names that just happended were Princess, Fluffy (my avatar for obvious reasons) and Gertie.
