Our brick paving in the backyard is completely undermined by ants! Take it this way, I can see more sand than pavers I've tried DE, but it kills too slowly...they just come up again. Is there any ant killer available that won't harm my girls?
HI Pianochook what I do, but you may not want to do this. " it works" First keep the chooks away from the pavers if you can. Then I use Petrol I pore a bit into the wholes leave it for a little while, then I set light to it. If you do this at night you will have a spectacular light show. The petrol finds its way into all the tunnels and when you light it, out it comes, out of all there wholes like candles glowing or should I say flaming like little volcanos in the night No need to flood it a little goes a long way. I should say better at night you can keep the girls away from it all and you get all the ants there asleep Trev
A patient was telling me only today that oat milk..? kills ants .
She is a Gardiner (professionally) .She said to soak rolled oats in water over night ( she used anchor oats ) The first time she did it it was an accident she threw out the water on an ant nest and the ants curled up and died .
.You can give he oats to the family or the chooks and the water you spray over the ants.. ;D
I'm going to try it .She did an experiment at her place of work ...using oat milk and poison ...The milk won
Hi again guys, I was told by a mod on BYP to use David Grays Ant and termite Spray (permethrin) I used it to dip my birds in recently and you can make it up to spray the coop. Much cheaper than coopex (only about $11.00 for 500ml) and it goes a really Looooong way. I will dig up the instructions shortly and post here.
Its not that bad. you only use a small amount of petrol and the flame is like a few candles in the wind no one outside your garden would know anything about it. It dose leave a nasty smell in there runs though and they do not like it the reason I use it I hate poisons of any kind the strongest thing I use would be rhubarb leave poison trev
...I finally got around to buying the David Grey stuff, just in time before the backyard disappeared Do you think I can use a larger amount, something like 18ml per litre, if it's on the pavers? I'm not spraying the coop, just the backyard and they recommend 25ml per litre for ants...
