This is my baby duck (used to be!) Casey Can anyone tell for sure if he is a boy or a girl? I'm thinking boy because of the greenish head and bluish on the wing but I'm not sure if it could change as he gets older? He is 2.5 months old and I've had him from an egg. I know your not supposed to but I had to help him hatch because he was two days late and his mum was ignoring him and 2 of his siblings were pecking him and he's been my baby since! I'm not positive what his parents are but believe mum is a Khaki Campbell and dad cross Dark Campbell and Mallard. Do you think he looks like a Dark Campbell or is it too early to tell? Thanks, Kelly

Sorry forgot to mention that, she quacks really loudly like a girl when she sees me. I wasnt sure if a hand raised male would do this too if it was really attached to a human?

with my very limited knowledge of ducks she looks like a girl, and i think a dark campbell.

ps i think that with that many feathers if it were a he the tail feathers would be beginning to curl.

I have no idea about ducks. Couldn't resist commenting though as whatever he/she is...it is a very strickingly pretty bird....

definately a girl, as jacqui said, by now the curled tail feather would be noticeable. Very nice little duck, more of a dark campbell, and the green tinge in the head may disappear with the first moult, but either way, you have a very healthy duck there

Females definitely have high pitched loud quack where males are dull quack but head says boy he is a little young to get his curly tail. The best way to tell is catch mum and see how loud she quacks if its the same its a girl
