m' back...and yes father-in-law has 10 acres mostly in almonds. In Northern California it is alot like where you are, high desert type weather, monsoons every 10 years, other than that, HOT, dry as a bone for 10 months out of the year. My new place here is 5 acres. Father-in-law Leslie loves his emu's and alot of people have them here and when they grow they have no idea what to do with them...and all I can say is at his age (almost 80) let him have his fun. He told me he is leaving the entire heard to me in his will and that's all I get ;D the man is the king of cheeky. As for the photobucket, all's I know is you go on to the site, typt in 'chickielady' and then surf down a bit you will see some font asking: did you mean 'chickylady' ? Now you have me wondering if I spelt it wrong! I will have to go see~back soon....

lakeland...I went to photobucket and what is needed is to type in the search box (not the member log on box ) type in 'chickielady' and a new page comes up and down a bit you see ' are you looking for chickielady'? Click here to see this member's profile...so click there and a new page pops up with my piccies...and that is as far as I have gotten...How's about some from you all down under ? And does any of you raise Guinea Fowl ? Bet you are all offline and fats asleep~ and here I am on the other side of this blue marble 'talking to myself" ;D Goodnight All~

Lakelands, I found that if you put chickielady where is says search images (top right) and click on the arrow for the dropdown menu, choose people. I have some photos on photobucket under jsjmm. They are all what I have put on here under different posts.

Hi again Robin, my brother kept Ostriches for a few years. They were all the rage at the time. They are funny birds. Such beautiful big eyes and lashes. Like the emus. But SO MUCH BIGGER! Isnt the sound the male emu makes intriguing? My brother has a male emu on his farm called Boink because of this sound he makes. I have eaten emu and ostriche a few times and I was surprised that it had red meat! I expected it to be more like chicken or turkey or something, but it was closer in look and texture to beef. It was defiantely yummy though.

Hi Robin In plain English several of us here have guinea fowl. I have four at the moment but have had up to a dozen running at the one time. I let them free range and roost in the trees and then spend half my days trying to find out where they are laying their eggs. There is a thread for "Other birds" which includes guinea fowl if you want to contribute to discussions there. Cheers Mike PS - if you want a translation of my earlier post, let me know.

We were up there in August, my sister lives in Wyndham. Lovely country. Robin, I do love where you live also, looks like you have lots of work ahead but it will be worth it.

lakelands, went on and saw your pics, beautiful beautiful birds you have, and what looks like alot of work what with lots of pens to muck and lots of feeding to do, a full time job, and champions too ! Good work! I wish I had the energy but we here are geeting on. I am happy to have healthy birds, and wish I had the energy to show. What beautiful birds I say again ! Awesome country, looks hot, looks like Northern California. Look up Lake Berryessa, Northern California.
