Early Thursday afternoon I emptied the incubator and put the shells and eggs that didn't hatch into a plastic bag and put them in the rubbish bin outside. They were due to hatch on Monday, so I had given them a couple of days extra for any latecomers. Hubby came home about 7.30pm from work and he said that he could here a chicken cheeping, I said it was the chicks in the brooder in the shed that he could hear, anyway, he didn't listen to me as per usual, and he went out to investigate. He found the source of the cheeping was coming from the rubbish bin, so the bag of eggs came back out of the bin and he's checking the eggs that didn't hatch, and guess what one had started to hatch, so it gets put back into the incubator again and it hatched during the night. This is a picture of Lucky (good choice of name I thought) So will have to wait and see how he goes.
