Hi all, we buy this product here in Washington state, U.S.A. for $25 an 80 pound sack which is quite a bit since it is such a fine "flour". It is not good to continually breathe as Annieyolkie has said, and can cause silica like problems as it is silica that the diatoms are reduced to. They cut up soft bodied insects. We can sprinkle it around our vegetable gardens to kill slugs, snails, and other pests. The chooks can eat their feed DUSTED with DE, and it kills crop worms, intestinal worms and such...and if you build a hole, add sand and DE, your birds will wallow in this mixture and it will kill lice and mites. The type we use here in the states for swimming pools is much grainier...and the food grade is a 'flour' much finer and will fluff about when the chooks dust bathe. I use a 80 pound sack of fine sand, about 10 pounds of DE flour, and I mix about 1 cup of pyrethrin poultry dust in...mix it up, the chooks love it !

Hello again, asiwasayin, we get DE flour in an 80 pound sacks from our feed store, and there are many brands of feed stores here. If your feed supplier does not have it, request they carry it. Perhaps they will find it and keep it on hand from now on. If you all keep requesting it, they will find a way to get it and keep it on hand for sale.

It's dissapointing that we can still get it all the way from Qld apporx $30.00 cheaper though, maybe that's why we don't buy local. They seem to price themselves out of the market. Oh how i wish for a competitive WA store!!!

Hi All, I just purchased my bag of D/E (Permaguard-fossil shell flour) from Antje in Serpentine. It works out almost the same price as I got from Qld. It is much more superior in quality, white/cream colour, comes from the USA. I found the Green Harvest Qld. one, grey and courser, tastes slightly fishy. Mind you, the animals dont mind it. I paid $39.50 for 5kgs from Qld, then had to pay $19.50 for P+H =$59 I bought a 22.68kg (50lbs) from Antje for $158 works out approx $7 per kilo. Of course the smaller amounts are going to be dearer, but the way I go thr'u it, I thought I may as well get the big bag. [glow=red,2,300]Amazing stuff[/glow]!!

BTW plink, she is a distributor also, so if you want your local feed store to supply it, maybe you could give them her details, mind you then they will mark it up so they can make a profit. I tried to get it directly from Permaguard in Nebraska USA, the 50lb bag is approx $31 AUD but the freight is $352 AUD. Unless we all get together and get a sea-tainer full, I cant see a way around it. It would be hilarious to see, a little old white haired granny (me) going to the airport (customs) to pick up my big bag of white powder!!! ;D ;D
