Tell me about it I have actually just told Alan I want to get rid of our Aframe made from a swing set off the lawn. It will become a permanent sleeping quarters now in one of the pens. I am going to take the tarp and wire off it and put some timber and tin on instead. Having just decided to move all the chooks around and finally have my backyard back to myself pretty much, I have completely redone a couple of garden beds the chooks had made into a desert. I dont want the aframe out the back anymore because it wrecks the lawn, even when we move it around every week or so. And it looks pretty unsightly. Good idea at the time, but now Im over it I also have more new chicks! I checked under a broody this afternoon and we have about 9 new Polish and Pekin chicks. Mum hasnt got off the nest yet, but tomorrow I expect she will be getting around with her bubs. I put a temporary fence around them until they are about a week or so old then they get to freerange with all the others in the nursery pen. The only ones Im not putting out there are the hen with ducklings because I want the ducklings to get used to us a bit. Ducklings seem to get more scared of things than chicks do. I will try and post some more pics tomorrow of new chicks and my new garden beds. Im so thrilled with them after months of planning in my head, they worked better than I expected.

What a great idea to re-use a swing set. Others may disagree but I find the the planning, organising and re-organising is half the fun. Nothing is more satisfying than finally getting things just how you want them.

Forgot to mention, A frame is a pretty safe option here, no lawn to wreck... lots of 'yard' but nothing that is well kept enough to call a lawn... I'm hanging out for winter, atleast then when it's mowed it all looks green and I can pretend I've finally done the landscaping I've been planning since we moved here two years ago. :-)

Lol I know Wendy, I am gunna get around to taking those piccies I promise. Just keep pestering me! I was planning to get snap happy on the weekend until a massive branch fell from one of our gums of friday night and squashed 3 sections of my Silkie pen fence and demolished my clothes line grrrr. So needless to say we spent the whole weekend cleaning that mess up. Still havent repaired the Silkie fence though, god knows when Im gunna get around to that. Too many bloody things to do! Gotta finish the new goosie pen first! On the chickies, the one I was telling you that looks buff cuckoo, I'm not so sure whether it is "buff" cuckoo of some other sort of cuckoo lol. Its a very pale apricot colour with subtle cuckoo patterning and what looks like some lavenderish colouring in the tail. And of course it has to be a darn cockerel! The 3 nicest chicks in the batch are all cockerels as usual!
