Putting up a thread to be sociable Have been glued to the forum for a couple of weeks now gathering valuable information. Have finally (after 2 years) twisted hubbies arm far enough for him to say yest to chooks. We had chooks when we were young lovers, but have found it harder to convince him 16 years on!! Chook house is finished (converted cubby house) we are just waiting for post holes to go in and then we can put the fence up. I have my heart set on Australorps, Wyandottes and Plymouth Rocks or Araucanas but not having much luck. I have posted in wanted so hopfully I will find something to fill my chook pen with soon ;D

Hi scrambled and welcome. There is nothing like having your own chooks, they are so quirky with their own personalities and then there is the bonus of home grown eggs.....YUM!!!!!!!!!! Have you tried the quokka and there is another site chooknet.com.au which also has sales. A lot of us here advertise or buy from these sources. As you probably already know we all love pictures, so get the camera out and feel free to share.

Hi and welcome .Its sometimes quite hard getting your flock together especially if your after hens and purebreds but as fluffychook says try chooknet and quokka. Some times you have a drive to get them but its worth it.Good luck and look forward to hearing from you on the forum in the future

Hi scrambled Your right it can be hard to find pure breed pullets, but it's the right time of year to buy chicks if your able to wait awhile for eggs and deal with any roosters you happen to get... chicks are cheaper too.... there are lots advertised on chooknet at the moment. I bought a pullet from www.cluckyhen.com.au/ not long ago, the seams like a lovely young couple and mentioned that they will grow birds on to the age you require if you pre-order them. Might be worth giving them a call. Anyway, welcome WAP, and like fluffy said make sure you show us some photos when you finally get your girls!

I went to buy some feed tonight and got talking and finished up with a phone number for a lady who is in Roleystone who keeps Australorps. Her name is Judy and her number is 9390 3644. If she does not have any she also has a friend who may have some too.

Hi and Welcome the gathering of the new flock will be as much fun as actually keeping them. I can help out with araucanas when you are ready and there is a guys named Matt advertising in the for sale section of this web site that has some lovely australorps I got some from him last week and they are beautiful.
