Hi all, I'm just wondering at what age do you let youngsters perch? I've heard about problems such as crocked keel bones associated with perching too early. what age do you all recommend adding a perch?? thanks for your help.

Hi Chickita, I jst let them perch when theyre ready. Ive heard some people that show their chooks dont provide perches though for the crooked keel problem. But if you give them a nice wide perch it should prevent that problem I think. Cheers, Wendy

Hi Chickita, I agree with Wendy I provide perches for them from pretty much day 1 and they just use it when there ready, unless your going to show your birds then crooked keel won't be an issue, but a wider perch is definately the way to go

oh and don't put it too high off the floor or it will cause foot problems also when they jump down the impact over time can be a problem
