Hi All, I have a beautiful large black Australorp pullet that lays tiny eggs. Anyone have any suggestions as to why this may be?? All my other youngens start with a small egg and within 3-4 weeks of their first season are laying beautiful big eggs. She is about 11mths old now and has been laying for 4mths, but her eggs are the size of a silkie. Just thought some of you wonderful people might have some anwers for me. Thanks...Merrilyn

HI Merrilyn No Idea what to do about that ,many on here may know . I found a egg the size of a marble in my pekins this morning ,thought someone had fed them yogurt chocolate balls, but no it was a egg obviously white only . Colleen the Cochin I got from you is going to be a mummy tomorrow she is a great hen sitting on loads of eggs (some she stole ) Ive had to put the stolen ones the incubator ,I originally had her on some (marked fortunatly) when iI checked her to candle the eggs found her with around 20 .

Hi Annie, I have had the odd small eggs, when one of my pullets first started laying, she would lay 2 a day, a tiny one, like a marble then a normal one. Now she just lays beaut big double yolkers every day. But this black girl I have has me baffled, she is such a big lovely specimen, you'd think she would have decent eggs. Great to hear Colleen Cochin is about to become a Mum, what are you expecting? Any Cochins? Can we have some pics of the babies please?

Hi! I'm probably not much help either, but my chookies do throw the odd tiny egg in too! Although they normally do lay normal sized eggs, I do sometimes find a really small ones (I thought the resident doves were laying in my boxes ) I would say - not being an expert or anything - don't worry about it and wait for the bigger eggs to arrive - or not??!! I suppose you can't make her lay big eggs??!!

Hi ikbokchook, Thanks for your comments, yep I guess there is not much I can do about it. She is getting the same diet as the others and they are doing what comes naturally. BTW "Happy Birthday tooo Yooouuuu!!!" Have a good one.

Hi Annie, Wow what a good Mum she is with all those babies, sorry have to ask, what are PRS? Fluffychook posted a really good step-by-step guide as to how to do the pics, it was a couple of months ago, so you should be able to find it somewhere. I think it's photobucket.com, I can't help as I get the computer whiz, Mr. Cleverdick (Shayne... my son) to do all that for me, as I wouldn't have a clue.

Hi annieyokie,
if you go to the New Member Lounge, you'll find the grannies thread, "qualified at last". Granny had the same problem and Cluck N Waddle solved it - not that I'd have the faintest idea....

Well done, little Colleen, ohhhh they are just gorgeous, she looks so content doesn't she, doing what they do best. I have to say Anne she looks in top shape, I just so love to see them with a Mum rather than incubator chickies, although they are all beautiful. Give Colleen a special cuddle from me, she's done you proud.
