Hi all, Just thought i would post a couple of pics of my light Sussex cross (Isa or highline) pullet. She is 8 months old . i love her color, the brown streaks to her feathers. i was torn between this one being a boy or a girl for ages as it grew up, i brought this one and an australorp and ended up with both girls!! good picking i guess, but i couldn't have picked out both girls without the help of this site, i really researched the posts of sexing youngsters and chicks. when i picked this pullet it was comfortably walking around its pen with its buddies and just acting and looking female, but once we got them home i started doubting my self lol. but both are now laying YAY!! ;D and my roo thinks this girl is a bit of alright!! she spends alot of time with him and he watches out for her from those pesky older grumpy red hens!! hope you like the pics Thanks.

thanks everyone ;D she has a lovely personality and loves to be around people. we have a small yard around our house to keep my little dog in the property, we have 5ac all up. a month ago i would find her in our house yard every day ,sometimes several times a day, cleaning up the bird seed my parrot throws out his cage. sometimes my dogs would be out in the yard and they didn't care about sharing their yard with her!

Ooohh! You are so lucky! She is beautiful! I put a couple of cross bred eggs in my incubator a while back (just to fill up space!) that were also light sussex cross isa brown and all a got was a pure white rooster and a hen that had really faint orange markings where the light sussex have black! If they'd turned out like your beautiful girl, I might have kept them!! ;D Maybe I'll put a couple more in.....

lol ikbokchook, thanks let me know if you put some in and what the out come is, the people i got her from have some more babies and fertile eggs for sale now the adds in the quokka , i was thinking of going and having a look at what they have. i know some are crosses again. they have a lovely light sussex roo that runs free range with a heap of hens (isa/hi-lines/light sussex and prob a few others and crosses) then a australorp roo that runs with reds and australorps, they also had some blue australorp hens but they havnt got any babies of them i would like to hatch a couple of this pullets eggs next year to my australorp roo, just to see what happens. thanks.

Very nice chikita. I was wondering how mine might turn out that hatched last week, light sussex x australorp. Maybe like yours but with black streaks?

I bet the australorp crosses turn out beautiful too! My Dad's friend ended up taking my two cross breds and he's going to cross the hen again with his beautiful light sussex roo - hopefully they'll turn out more like your girl chickita! Would love to pics of your light sussex australorp x chicks when they feather up shea! (or even now 'cos the littlies are sooo cute!)
