Its very exciting! ;D I have 5 little Pekin chicks now who are from eggs layed in my own backyard! All my other Pekin chickies have been from posted eggs. None are for me unfortunately. They are for the lady coming from Esperance. Its all good, more are pipping and I have 4 Polish in that are pipping too. I will post some pics when they are all fluffed and in the brooder tomorrow. Ahhh it never gets old does it?? Cheers, Wendy

Well here are the pics finally Its been one of those weekends ... (teenagers ) Between my son and his two mates (12 and 13yrs old) sneaking out last night and not coming home and picking up my older daughters friend from a party because she was very drunk... Im OVER IT!!! Its not much fun having to explain things to the parents when you were meant to be responsible! Luckily the parents were ok. They have some help around the house for the next couple of weeks, so do we ;D Anyhow, onto the chick pics- We have some Polish who are a week old in with 4 new Polish and the rest are the first batch of homegworn Pekin chickies Theres even a couple from my white trio, which Im tempted to keep lol Brooder all fresh and lovely...for 5 minutes lol

poor Wendy, the parents obviously know that teenagers can and do misbehave and love to embarrass. Trust me, it does get better, not much comfort when your in the thick of it, sorry. Your little ones look magnificent and so does the brooder (not for long...lol)

Thanks guys for the chins up with the teens Its all good now, I was just having a gripe! We dont hold grudges in this house. He's still grounded though! I have lots of raking that needs doing every day as the chooks scratch everything out of the gardens and wont scratch it back in! lol Plus whatever other things I can think of. Mucking out chookpens is anotehr good job hehe Annie, the chickens came from my Cuckoo pen which has the cuckoo rooster, cuckoo, blue and black hens, White pen and Buff pen. The Buffs have now gone to a new home to make some room. The orangey/brown are the buffs, yellow are the whites, black with a white spot on head are cuckoos, dark grey are blue and the light silvery grey are splash. Some of my older Polish chicks are completely black and others have the white crests. The Polish in there with grey crests will end up black. I will be selling all the black ones and some of the WC blacks when they get old enough to sex.
