Hi all I have a hen that seems to have a sore eye, she is acting normal eating, drinking and roaming around with the others, her eye was fine yesterday and i noticed this morning that she is keeping it closed a lot, there is no swelling or discharge of any type. shes not scratching at it, just gives her head a little shake every now and then. could it be some sand in her eye? or could she have scratched her eye? would anyone have any ideas how to make it feel better for her? eg; flushing it out with water or saline! any advice is greatly appreciated if the problem persists i will take her to my vet. P.S its only one eye not both Thanks.

If you have any ,some colloidal silver in the water you bathe her eyes with would help .Its the best anti bacterial ,anti fungal safe product there is .

Horses7 ill deff let you all know if/when i take her to the vet what the out come is,. Annie i dont have any Colloidal silver, but will look into getting some. i washed her eye with saline and there was some gritty sand in there that i got out so ill do it some more 2morrow and see how she goes, she's still acting her normal bossy self , eating , drinking , scraching around ect.

i've found the problem , im sure. when bathing her eye this afternoon i noticed a tiny scratch on the very edge of her eye lid. so im thinking she or another chook scratched her eye, it seems to be getting better with the bathing and i've treated them all for lice and fleas today, and getting a wormer for them tomorrow. It's called Aristo... Something(cant remember exactly) , its the only thing i can get hold of . has anyone ever used this? is it any good? Thanks .
