Hi Debbie. They can get colds and respiratory problems. Sometimes they just get over it by themselves. Other times you need to treat it with some antibiotics if they end up with an infection. I would keep her separate from the others in a box inside at night until she's better. If she doesnt get better and gets worse, you will need to get a vet to prescribe some antibiotics probably. Hope she gets better. Cheers, Wendy

Keep her isolated all the time otherwise your other poultry could catch what she has.
I would give her some extra pick me ups as well, like the ricketts diet and soluble vitamins like Soluvet. You can buy broad spectrum antibiotics at pet stores like Avicycline which if needed you may want to try.
If she looks hunched and cold in her isolation cage give some extra warmth with a reading lamp. Make sure the globe is the type that generates heat.

God Tina, I wish it was that easy around here to get an antibiotic! I tried feed stores, the people in the pet shop looked at me as if I was speaking another language!lol Thats why I had to take my first hen with CRD to the vet. I might try asking if they can get it in just in case. Yes as Tina says, they should be kept separate all the time until they are all clear for a week or 2. Sorry I wasnt clear . It was mad hour in our house, I was typing a very quick response I had 4 sick chooks with Chronic Respiratory Disease in the laundry for a week! They had antibiotics and I had my wok going in there with Vicks in the water. They were gasping and making a terrible sound like when a child gets croup. They responded to the vicks, antibiotics, ricketts diet which I had to force feed them as they wouldnt eat, vitamins in their water and being kept warm. I completely ruined my electric wok! Those chooks cost me a fortune and not just what I paid for them at the auction!! They are all healthy as now though and laying tons of eggs

I know what you mean Wendy, I had that response when I was trying to find Sulphaquin. You can always get it online too which I find really helpful.

Thansk got some from city farmers - made a modified rickets diet (did not have all the ingredients ) and fed her some - she seems ok ony gets breathless when she is stressed .Hopefully this will do the trick!!

Just though i would let you know she is much better eating like a horse and seems much happier if not a bit skinny. Thanks for all the advice. Just want the bantam,s to lay again they have not laid since the day i got them?Is this normal? Ohh and i think one opf my silkies might be a rooster but then again i am not sure what the difference would be but one looks very different in the face tahn the other and is bigger already- will just have to wait and see if it starts crowing!!

Debbie put a picture up of the two silkies, you need a close up of their comb and wattles. So that would be a front on and a side on picture. Sometimes hens will look and sound like roosters when there is no rooster about. But your Silkies are still fairly young aren't they?
Are the bantam's the pekins? Were they laying before you got them? If they were sometimes it takes a long time for them to start laying again, but they do settle down.

Great to hear that she is feeling much better, this could also be why they are not laying too.
