I have 6 roosters booked in for the morning at Prestige Poultry. $2.70 per bird. 3 are 22 weeks and 3 are 17 weeks. We just haven't got around to doing them so have a chorus going every morning. None of the neighbours have complained - yet. I don't even hear them wth the windows shut so hopefully no-one else does.

Will be nice and quiet in the morning, only 3 at it. ;D ;D ;D They turned out really good, look like chooks you might buy, not like the ones we did that were a bit rough.

minime,
How did you go with the youtube videos? Remember to get the water temp right. Too hot it will start to cook the chook, not hot enough it will make plucking a task.

We do it as a family affair. My wife and son help me pluck after I have dispatched the roos. I am teaching my son the ins and outs of gutting. Hopefully he will be able to do it himself one day.
If you are close by, you are most welcome to watch and learn the next time we do it.

We do all our processing at our place in York. That may be a bit out of your way. But if you don't mind a drive, you are most welcome to drop in.
Though you must understand this is not for the faint hearted.
