well as you all know i candled some silkie eggs i got the other day and had 21 out of 23 eggs fertile and they started to hatch this morning got 12 so far but sadly 1 died it was so weak and could not hold it's head up or anything so sad i tried to give it a bit of water etc but all no good at least i tied ...7 more are trying to pop out as we speak and 1 egg is cherping not sure about the other 1 fingers crossed though

Great fertility rate, shame about the little one, it is hard. Post some pictures when you can, we will be very happy to see them too.

yeah i will post some piccies when they are done they are so small i usually only hatch standard breeds they are mostly yellow but a couple are greyinsh fluff with rust coloured tips really odd i got 4 of them so far ..but the baby dieing was sad

its always sad when they die when they are hatching, but there is nothing you can do, it just happens sometimes.
enjoy hte rest of your babies, look forward to seeing pictures of them.

well i just go the last one out the bator this morning and i ended up with 18 out of 21 sad about the others but i candled the eggs and there is no movement at all and they didn't even try to get out of the egg the ones with the rusty tips are nice and fluffy but it has paled off to a real light fawn kind of colour as you said steph they have pretty much no middle toe feathering but they are cute and i am not going to breed them and intend to find the roo's a nice new home ...i will wait till they fluff up a bit and take some piccies as they look a bit bed raggled at the moment

ok i just quickly snapped a couple that came out last night and here they are one is a slightly different colour but there is one a bit darker than that too

Looks like one might be buff. Certainly didn't like the flash...lol No matter how many you see they are always so cute.

there are only a couple of the real yellow ones the rest are the "buff" not that i mind about the color i just hope i get a few white girls too
